about Moodle

Moodle is a course managment system that helps us alot as learners in this era of high level technology. Thanks to Moodle, we can creat an online learning community with great number of learners. Actually,we can create as many pedagogigal sites as we need using the Moodle system. According to my experince with the pedagogical sites, I found it very interesting to replace the ordinary classes with the new online classes. It was said that, one of the main advantages of Moodle over other systems is a "strong grounding in social constructionist pedagogy". As a matter of fact many educators prefer using Moodle in order to creat e-learning system or the so-called the Learning Management System. As far as I am concerned, I think that the other advantage of this software package is that almost all the learners speak the English language which give us the opportunity to learn English as much as we can.

lesson plan description

An English lesson plan must necessarily have aims, which are the first component of a well planned lesson. Those aims must be diversified and have objectives like communicative functions, skills and subskills, lexical itemes, and grammar aims. The second componenet of the lesson plan is the procedure that the teacher will follow. In fact this very procedure is of two types depending on the level of the students and the nature of the course. In case it is designed to secondary school learners, the procedure is of three stages which are successively; the review or presentation stage, the practice stage, and the performance stage, in addition to a reserve activity in case the lesson finishes before the supposed timing. In case it is an ESP lesson, the plan is of just two stages and follow the deep-end strategy which begins the performance stage followed by the practice stage. The third component of a well planned lesson is to prepare the teaching aidsneede to present the lesson e.g. flashcards, realia, etc...

course description

The course description is a document that the teacher has to present to his students in order that they will have a general idea about the course agenda, its objectives, directions, and the needed materials. Actually, it works like a contract between the teacher, students, and the administration. Usually, the teacher presents his course description to his students at the beginning of the year by fixing the dates of each chapter or lesson, and thus, students will be aware of the development of their course. The course description has to specify a number of things. First of all, the subject being taught has to be clear from the beginning. For example "English course". Second, the level of students needs to be specified because even in the same class you can have students from different levels. So the teacher has to be aware of this fact. Third, the course objectives must be listed in the course description, in order that the learner be aware of them. Moreover, this step facilitates the planning of both the sequence of lessons and the individual lessons. Besides, the teacher has to specify what reading materials are essentials for the course and how the examinations are supposed to be. At the same type what gain is expected to take place from those examinations.

memories about my teachers

I remember two teachers that were in a way very special. The first one was a teacher in the university. He was very active, in that he made every student participate in the development of the lesson. He was adopting a motivating method. In fact, he wasn't like those ''traditional'' teachers who come to class just to dictate the lesson. At the contrary, he made us create the lesson, every student was asked to add an idea or a commentary. Then he formulated the lecture notes on the basis of students' participation. Hence, his sessions were really enjoyable. However, another teacher, that I remember, was very different in that she was a traditional teacher, whose sessions were very boring. In fact, she was always dictating her lecture notes without any effort to make us understand the lesson.
